If intimate images or videos of you are being shared on Reddit without your consent, including deepfakes or AI-generated “lookalike” content, Reddit has two reporting routes built around the Take It Down Act. Both currently treat the law as something only people in the United States can use, which is a quirk worth understanding before you start.
Route 1: The Take It Down Act form
Reddit has a dedicated Take It Down Act request form.
The catch is that Reddit, like several other platforms, treats the Act as US-only. Its own help text says the law protects people in the U.S. and that you have the removal right “if you’re located in the United States.” That framing is not accurate. The Take It Down Act does not actually require you to live in or be a citizen of the United States. But Reddit enforces a US-location rule from its side, so if you are outside the US this form may turn you away.
If that happens, the second route is the practical workaround.
Route 2: The legal-rights form, step by step
Reddit’s broader legal removal form handles the same content through a different path. Walk through the fields in this order.
First, under Region where you are claiming legal rights, choose United States.
Under What would you like to report?, choose Report Reddit Rules Violation.
Under Policy Violation, scroll down and choose Non-Consensual Intimate Media.
Then, under What is the nature of the illegal content you are reporting, pick the option that fits.
For the first two cases, the rest of the form follows. You provide your email, confirm the region, paste the link to the content (Reddit notes that its system detects and removes exact copies automatically, so one URL of the image is enough), and write a short description of why the content violates your rights. You then tick the two confirmation boxes, that the content depicts you or someone you represent and that you believe in good faith it was shared without consent, type your full name as a digital signature, and submit.
What happens after you submit
Reddit follows up by email. You will receive a message confirming the content was removed, rejecting the report, or asking for more information. If they ask for more, reply promptly with what they need.
